Dear Downtown Albany BID Member:

As Chairwoman of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District’s (BID) Board of Directors, I am writing to invite you to participate in the governance of this organization. This June, the Board of Directors will welcome new board members who will officially begin their terms at the Annual Meeting. These members will serve three-year terms, and are eligible to serve two consecutive terms.

To serve on the Downtown Albany BID Board of Directors, an individual must be either a Class A owner of record of real property or Class B tenant occupying commercial space within the District. As required by our by-laws, board members are selected from the property owners and business leaders within the District. We strongly encourage members with a vested interest and passion for the economic health and vitality of downtown Albany to get involved.

The Downtown Albany BID believes that each board member’s commitment is divided between their "Time, Talent and Treasure." In other words, board members are asked to commit time and share their wisdom, good judgment and experience.

Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and be active and engaged members on one or more of the BID’s special committees. If you would like to know more about the BID’s committees, visit our website at downtownalbany.org or contact Georgette Steffens by calling 518.465.2143 or emailing gsteffens@downtownalbany.org.

There are four openings for the upcoming term: (3) Class A directors and (1) Class B director. I encourage you to take this opportunity to submit names of proposed candidates, including yourself, for consideration by the Nominating Committee. All nominations must be in writing. To download a nomination form, click here.

Please fill out the form and mail to: Nominating Committee, Downtown Albany BID, 418 Broadway, 3rd Floor, Albany, NY 12207 or deliver in person to the BID office.

All nominations must be received at the BID office on or before Friday, February 26, 2010.

Sincerely,

Tracy Metzger
Chairwoman
