Artful Albany is a guided walking tour podcast designed to celebrate the art, history, and culture unique to New York's Capital City. During each episode, we'll focus on an area of downtown Albany to explore. We'll regale you with stories, highlight dynamic public art, and hear from some of the artists behind the Capital Walls public art project. You can listen to this podcast from anywhere, but it’s best experienced from the sidewalks of downtown Albany. Episode 1 walks listeners through downtown Albany to the mural “Bluebirds” by Michael Conlin on the Quackenbush Garage and along the Clinton Avenue off-ramp from I-787 to see “Geraldine’s Reverie” by Liz Zunon.

 

Episode 2 takes you on a walking tour of Albany's historic Downtown. Stroll along Broadway from holiday innovations at "The Temple of Fancy" to the City's oldest building and park.

 

Episode 3 takes you on a walking tour of Albany's stunning State Street, highlighting Capital Walls and Open Gallery public art exhibits along the way. Narrator Maeve McEneny of Discover Albany regales you with tales of Albany's historic characters, celebrations, and... cats. Artist Cara Hanley tells the story behind her Capital Walls mural, "Illuminated". 

 

Episode 4 wraps up Season 1 of the Artful Albany podcast. We'll take you on a walking tour from Albany's incredible Capitol building to Broadway, highlighting Capital Walls public art exhibits along the way. Narrator Maeve McEneny of Discover Albany regales you with tales of Albany's history, architecture, and residents. Artists BoogieREZ and Jade Warrick tell the stories behind their Capital Walls murals, "Sawubona" and "Escape to Nature: Where Peace Awaits".
