NYS 4th of July Celebration


The New York State 4th of July celebration will be held at the Empire State Plaza from 3:00 - 10:00 PM. Free and open to the public, the event features great food, drink, and live entertainment all day.

Summer at the Plaza's rhythm and blues night on July 20 will feature Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears with special guests Sonny Knight and the Lakers, and The High Rollers. Show is 5:00 - 9:00 PM in the Empire State Plaza.

Classic Rock Night

Shooter Jennings and Devon Allman


Shooter Jennings and Devon Allman will perform on June 29 at the Empire State Plaza as part of the Summer at the Plaza series. The Mallett Brothers will open the show, which runs 5:00 - 9:00 PM.

The Boys of '36


The Palace Theatre will host a free preview of the new PBS documentary The Boys of '36 on July 21 at 7:30 PM. Based on the book "The Boys in the Boat", the documentary will premier on WMHT in August.

The Henry Hudson Planetarium hosts Albany Star Sighting the third Saturday of every month at 1:00 PM.

Interactive program identifies stars, planets, comets, and constellations in the night sky and the tools and techniques for becoming an amateur astronomer geared toward children aged 8 and above, as well as adults. 

The planetarium is housed inside the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center.
