Historic properties being renovated through state grant funds


Three properties in downtown Albany are currently undergoing renovations for what will soon become new retail and residential units available in Downtown.

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society Microchip Clinic


While Nipper is a local celebrity, most dogs (and cats) don't enjoy as much recognition. That's why it's critical for all pets to wear ID tags and be microchipped for identification, should they ever lose their way from home. Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will be offering a microchip clinic on Wednesday, August 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in front of McGeary's Irish Pub, 4 Clinton Square, Albany as part of Nipper Week.

Albany Capital Center to host boys' state volleyball tournament


The Albany Capital Center has been chosen as the hosting venue for the state boys volleyball tournament beginning in the fall of 2018. The convention center announced a three-year run following a vote on July 25th by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Central Committee.

Black Arts and Cultural Festival

Presented by McDonald's, the Black Arts and Cultural Festival is an updated take on a classic celebration of the traditions and cultural contributions of the black community through music, art, dance, and more. In addition to an exciting lineup of talent on the main stage, the festival will feature a kids zone with family-friendly activities everyone can enjoy.

State Education Building Tours being offered to the public for the first time


Starting on August 12, the State Education Building will be offering free tours on the second Saturday of each month. This is the first time the building has been made available for regular public tours since the State Museum and Library were moved from the Education Building to the Cultural Education Center in the 1970s.
