Discover Albany Visitors Center hosts Politics and Prohibition walking tour on September 17 at 10:30 AM.

Politics and Prohibition is a spirited guided walking tour of downtown Albany. Learn about how even the early Dutch settlers recognized the political power brewers could wield and how this tradition carries beyond the prohibition era.

Your tour guide will dish out the juicy local gossip of the secret speakeasies, the bootleggers who supplied them, and the suspected politicians who perhaps had ulterior motives in keeping up the appearance that Albany was a “dry town.” In hushed tones, guests will also investigate leads in the murder of notorious bootlegger Legs Diamond, and decide for themselves who did the nefarious deed.
