New Coworking Space, CapCity CoWorks, opens in Downtown

Downtown Albany has welcomed its latest high-end amenity as CapCity CoWorks, a coworking space located on the 18th floor of 11 N Pearl Street, held its grand opening celebration in March.

Opened by Albany Pearl Street Heights Associates, which owns the building, the choice to transform a floor into a coworking space came as owners and building administrator Melissa Martino recognized that young professionals, those who work remotely, and freelancers are increasingly seeking collaborative work spaces. That, combined with the convenience of the building's location in downtown Albany - close to government offices, transportation servies, and dozens of restaurants, the owners seized the opportunity to expand what the former Home Savings Bank Building offered.

Featuring 30 offices, over 70 desks, and a variety of coworking space options, amenities at CapCity CoWorks include 24/7 tenant access, custom coffee bar, beer on tap, charging stations, print centers, on-site admin during working hours, and much more. The space, complete with a touch of Art-Deco flair and astonishing views of Downtown and the Hudson River, provides members with a place where collaboration, innovation, and networking collide.

Rates for a private single-desk office at CapCity CoWorks start at $450 a month, while larger spaces with four desks start at $375 per desk. Rates and pricing are flexible based on the tenant’s needs.

“We are thrilled to officially open our doors today,” said Martino at the ribbon cutting. “We are in a great location – the true hub for the Capital Region – and offer our tenants a great energetic and positive place to work. We are excited to welcome people from a wide-variety of industries to network and collaborate together. Just come in, bring your laptop and start working right away - we provide the rest hassle free.”

"The transformational development occurring in Downtown is taking place at every level - from ground floor retail to 18th story conversions," said Georgette Steffens, executive director of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District. "As we continue to welcome residents, professionals, and visitors into our District, CapCity CoWorks shows once more that Downtown continues to expand high-end amenities that are increasingly vital, especially as more people are operating outside of a traditional work environment."
