Albany's premier freedom festival will take place on Saturday, June 17 from Noon to 5:00 PM on S Pearl Street between Madison and Westerlo Avenues.

 

South Pearl Street will be closed from Madison Avenue to Westerlo Avenue for the celebration which is based at the African American Cultural Center of the Capital Region (135 South Pearl Street). Attendees are encouraged to explore vendors and businesses both along the South Pearl Street corridor and in the South End Grocery (106 South Pearl Street) parking lot that speak to the diversity, familial roots, and resiliency of the neighborhood. 
 

Free and open to the public, this event draws thousands of people each year and commemorates the abolition of slavery in the US, and is aimed at educating and uplifting through music, art, speakers, family-friendly activities, community resources, local vendors, food, and more.
