Statement from Executive Director Georgette Steffens regarding the celebration with Governor Kathy Hochul about the investment in our state capital
Downtown Albany BID Executive Director Georgette Steffens said:
"I was proud to stand alongside Governor Kathy Hochul to celebrate the launch of the Championing Albany’s Potential (CAP) Initiative—the single largest investment of State funds downtown Albany has ever received. The impact of this $400 million investment on our commercial corridors, small businesses, and housing is truly unprecedented. We must seize this opportunity to transform Downtown into the vibrant capital city we know it can be.
This effort begins now, with the announcement that Empire State Development has selected MIG to lead a collaborative planning initiative to revitalize Albany's downtown core. The state and MIG will start a robust public engagement process in June. Follow the BID on our social channels to learn about the numerous opportunities for public participation and input.
Thank you to Governor Hochul and the State Legislature for their unwavering support and shared commitment to our city. I look forward to working together to reimagine downtown Albany for the future."
